Women’s Fellowship is volunteering at the Soup Kitchen and needs volunteers. Contact Phyllis Chase, pchase76@comcast.net or Daryl Gottier, edengott@sbcglobal.net.

Pairs and Spares: Do you have an idea for a Pairs and Spares event? If so, stop at the Scrip-Your-All table during Coffee Hour and write it down on our “ideas” sheet. We are also looking for people willing to organize an event. If interested, you can sign up for that too.

Purchase an FCCV Water Bottle for only $10 each – perfect to complement summertime fun! Proceeds go toward activities and items for our evangelism efforts, such as the white high-top tables used during Coffee Hour. For those attending the Youth event in Orlando, a water bottle is a great way to show FCCV spirit!

The Prayer Shawl Group has shawls available for anyone who would like to give one to someone who is ill, has lost a loved one or just needs to know that someone cares. Please take a moment to see how much love and caring goes into the making of these shawls. Several shawls were donated to Syrian refugees. Some have also been given to a nursing home. Our group is not always aware of someone in need, so please let us know if one is needed.

Needed! Our shopping carts (located in the Narthex and Breezeway) are running low. Each month Board of Missions members alternate taking non-perishable food to the Soup Kitchen, part of the Cornerstone Foundation in Rockville and to the Hockanum Valley Community Council. Please see a BOM member or Emily Westerberg, Chair, if you can lend a hand (Might God be calling you to serve in this way?). We also need folks who can help prepare meals at the Cornerstone Soup Kitchen. A sign-up sheet is posted in Fellowship Hall. Several area churches have recently stopped helping at the Soup Kitchen and the need is greater than ever!

Order a name tag today. Three options are available - magnet, pin, or clip. You can also include a hang tag should you belong to a board/committee. A $3 to $5 donation is requested, but not required. Order at the Scrip-Your-All table or contact Kate Fowler at kfowler64@yahoo.

The Care Network is offered by the Deacons as a helping hand during difficult times. If you are in need of a ride to church, the doctor, hospital, grocery store, etc., in need of meals or a visit, contact Jan Muro (872-1757 or jmoze@hotmail.com) or Jon Dunlap (875-7254). The Care Network has a new opportunity for the minister in you! We are starting a Card Ministry which allows you to reach out to others in the comfort of your own home and on your own time! All you have to do is supply the cards and the stamps and send them out as requested by the Care Network. This is a simple way to create fellowship with someone who is in rehab, recovery, dealing with loneliness or just apart from us for awhile so they do not feel forgotten. Contact Jan Muro at 860-872-1757 or jmoze@hotmail.com !

Invitation to Christ’s Table

At the First Congregational Church of Vernon the sacrament of communion is a symbol of Christ’s welcome to all the children of God. It does not matter who you are, or where you have been; where you are going, what you have done, or what you have left undone.

Even one who doubts or whose trust is wavering may come to the Table and be assured of God’s love and grace in Christ Jesus.

Come, and share in the community of God’s people, and celebrate the welcome of our still speaking God.

A Crib Room is available upstairs near the balcony for parents with infants up to 12 months of age where the worship service can be heard via loudspeaker. A staffed Toddler Room for children 12-36 months old is located downstairs with the classrooms. Donations are gratefully accepted in the free-will offering box.

Child Care is available for church activities/events when notice is given 3 days prior to the event. Contact Child Care Coordinator, Jen Jensen, 860-875-4095.

New Visitor Parking signs have been installed in both church parking lots to make it easier for first time worshippers to join us. Click here for directions to FCCV. The directions page includes details about our two main parking lots and the locations of visitor, limited mobility and handicapped parking spots. The pictures also show the two lower level entrances, the main Sanctuary entrance and the locations of our meeting rooms and the elevator between the lower level and the Sanctuary.

Statement of Safe Church Policy:

As a gathered community of faith who have covenanted together to minister to all needs, our Safe Church Policy is written to make it clear that all forms of abuse and exploitation are prohibited and will not be tolerated. Our members must be able to worship and work together in a climate free from inappropriate behavior.

Visitors to FCCV are encouraged to use the Pew Cards cards to request information about our church, to provide addresses/emails for communication purposes or to ask for a pastoral visit.  The Pew Cards can be placed in the plates when the offering is taken.  We hope this will encourage our guests to let us know how we can help them be comfortable at our church.

If you are interested in joining our congregation contact Senior Pastor Rev. Bird
