We are pleased to announce the
Music @ First 2008/2009 Concert Series
and invite you to become a sponsor or subscriber.
Sponsors receive recognition in the program for each concert along with a subscription to the entire concert series. Sponsorship opportunities start at $50 per sponsor. Corporate subscriptions are welcome.
Subscriptions to the complete series are available for $40. ($30 for seniors and students) |

Vernon residents Judy Handler and Mark Levesque return to Music @ First in their third encore presentation and will be joined by Martha Kayser, violinist with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. |

Christmas Concert: FCCV Choirs
This holiday celebration features our Sanctuary, Youth and Bell Choirs along with soloists and ensembles performing the best of sacred and secular Christmas music |

Mezzo Soprano Bonnie Brenner, a soloist throughout the New England area, will be accompanied by James Burr. This program will feature sacred songs and selections by Schumann, Faure, Gluck, Saint Saen, Kern and Rodgers. |

Proceeds from
Music@First will be used to fund the Les Childs Scholarship
awarded annually to an applicant for pursuit of excellence
in music. Les Childs was choir director for First Congregational
Church of Vernon for over 13 years until his death in 1999.
He was well liked and respected for his musicianship and professionalism.
He was a founding member of CONCORA, the premier Connecticut
choral musicians. He was also Director of Music at South Catholic
High School in Hartford, where he was a teacher, mentor and
role model to many youth. He was involved in numerous musical
organizations in the area. The Les Childs Music Scholarship
fund was established to continue his work in teaching and
influencing students of music.
